Even in a town like Austin where musicians are on every corner\, Will Stands out With his unique collaborations and concerts\, He truly is “One of a Kind.” Thank you Will. Please keep your awesome and unique music coming!!!! YOU would be sorely missed were you to leave!!! -Pam B\, Ph.D \n \nThanks for the unbelievable musical service. Will\, you take us kicking and connecting with new people who love music and natural life! Then Tony captured the beauty of classical guitar\, which for me was delightful\, secret toe wiggling while lying on my mat\, housed in dark AC while visually surrounded by elms and willows. The hands on energy touch upon request\, was an amazing bonus. Can’t get any better. Dr. Patty and Bob \n \nWill\, last night’s show was magnificent. Now I remember why I felt at home when I came to Austin in 1980. There is something precious here\, (Holy\, actually) and you are a part of that. Thank you. Shara T. \n***Debbie \n \nWill Taylor\nI’ve been a professional violinist and Austin music icon for over 20 years\, jamming with folks such as Willie Nelson\, Pearl Jam\, Gary Clark Jr.\, Shawn Colvin\, Shiny Ribs\, Guy Forsyth\, the Turtle Island String Quartet at Town Hall in New York City and so many more. I’m a lover of the outdoors and the magic of bringing people into nature for life-changing moments of connection and musical bliss. I have been a concert presenter for over 30 years and in 2006 produced a concert of the Beatles White Album that was broadcast on radio and drew over 1600 folks for two shows. Two time Austin Music Award Winner\, and Best of Austin Finalist in 2022\, and Winner in 2024 \nAward Winning Film Composer for the Film Protocol 7 \n \nRyan Murphy\nRyan Murphy has been playing music in Austin since he moved here in 2001. Originally studying jazz and classical piano at UT\, he has since branched out into many other styles including rock\, blues\, gospel\, reggae\, folk and hiphop. He loves bringing the haunting sound of clarinet to campfire jams and potlucks. He plays with the band Skymomma and also regularly performs gospel music with Austin-based singer Leeann Atherton. Ryan loves connecting with people through music\, and also teaches music out of his home. He has also been a part of the Ecstatic Dance community for 20 years\, including helping put on an Ecstatic Dance with Live Musicians. \n \nTony Rogers\nTony is a cellist\, educator\, performer\, arranger and composer. \nHe performs regularly with The Austin Piazzolla Quintet\, The Waterloo Trio\, Jenifer Jackson\, the multi-genre group Strings Attached\, performs weddings on weekends\, and onstage with symphonies\, playing 70 public performances per year\, teaches a few hundred lessons and directs the Austin Cello Choir every week on Tuesday evenings for cellists of all levels. In his spare time he organizes chamber reading sessions. \n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\nWhat is Concerts in the Dark all about? \nConcerts in the Dark offers a unique and transformative way to experience acoustic music by reducing or completely eliminating light\, giving the listener the opportunity to immerse themselves entirely in the experience. \nThis innovative series celebrates the purity and intimacy of acoustic music\, creating an environment where every note\, rhythm\, and resonance takes center stage. By tuning out visual distractions\, audiences are invited to engage their senses more deeply\, fostering a profound connection with the music and its emotional core. \nMost of our concerts include a short meditation at the beginning. At some events\, guests bring blankets and/or pillows\, and sit or lie on the floor to experience the music in a relaxing posture\, while the musicians walk around the room. \n \n👤 Are children welcome? \nKids are welcome! For this show\, everyone needs a ticket but\, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please keep in mind that this is an event where the focus is on the music\, and might include meditation. So we value peace and an environment of non-disruption for all that are paying to have this experience. This isn’t a club atmosphere where there is talking over the music. That being so\, we do have a separate area where you can take the kids if they or you need a break. \n🪑 What’s the seating like? \nRegular seating is on a first come first served basis. \nThere will be chairs provided for guests wanting back support. \nThe floor will be available for folks that bring yoga mats and/or pillows. \nGOLD VIP Tickets get you reserved yoga matt spots front row by the musicians\, and all VIP tickets holders get early access to the space. \nHow dark is it actually? We turn off all lights at the beginning of the concert for the first few songs\, light a single candle\, and then have darkness for the last 2 songs. \nIs this a sober event? YES! No Drugs/Alcohol\, Smoking\, No Phones\, No Camera/Video\, and No Scents please \nCan I volunteer to get in free? \nYes\, we have 4 positions for volunteers that begin 1 hour before the event and include helping set up the space\, checking people in and cleaning up after the event is done \nHow can I reach a human for questions? \nReach out to 512-589-8749 \n📅 Do you have a calendar of events? \nMore ConcertsintheDark.com Events \nStrings in the Woods Events \nWhat are the benefits of Cacao: \n\nImproved blood flow\, stem cell generation\nLowers chances of heart disease. George and I were so high from the creative energy and the almost other-worldly sense of collaboration. What a divine life you have to be able to participate in such moments of group creativity. It made me jealous that my work world is so isolated. Ah well\, it was just heavenly to be part of the experience. We can’t wait for the next Strings Attached concert.” \nSarah Bird\, award winning author \n \n“Once again\, very magical and heart felt music\, we can feel it when it comes from your hearts\, because like tuning\, it strikes our chords as well and moves us.” – Dan \n \n“The ensemble is fantastic. Each player is very gifted and adds to the whole. No one dominates or over plays. You are the best group I’ve heard in Austin in a long while.” – Becky M.
