Who operates ChiVibe

The Playpen Enterprises LLC operates chivibe.com and the ChiVibe Chicago Pulse newsletter. Our business postal address is 875 N Michigan Ave Ste 3620, Chicago IL 60611. Contact hello@chivibe.com with privacy questions or requests. This policy describes the public website and newsletter; subscribing does not create an account or enroll you in another brand’s marketing or CRM sales outreach.

Chicago Pulse newsletter

Chicago Pulse provides weekly email updates about Chicago openings, neighborhood guides, and ChiVibe. Subscription is optional. The Zoho Campaigns signup form requests your email address; first and last names are optional. Select the newsletter consent checkbox and confirm through the email sent to your address. A signup request alone is not a confirmed subscription.

The WordPress newsletter signup placements were retired on September 20, 2026. Previously, that form requested first name, last name and email, stored submissions in WordPress and emailed them to our administrative mailbox. Those submissions did not create a Zoho newsletter subscription and are not automatically imported into Zoho Campaigns. We retain and review legacy copies under the retention schedule below. The newsletter signup now uses the Zoho Campaigns confirmation-based process described above.

We use Zoho Campaigns to host the signup form and administer confirmation, newsletter delivery, subscription preferences and suppression. The form uses a CAPTCHA to reduce automated abuse. Zoho processes the information submitted through the form and technical information needed to operate and protect its service. We retain the consent wording associated with each form version and use subscription records to administer your preferences.

We measure individual email opens and link clicks to understand engagement. An email tracking image records an open when loaded; tracked links record clicks. These measurements can be affected by email privacy features and automated systems and do not always represent a person’s actions. This tracking is separate from website analytics. You can stop future newsletter marketing by unsubscribing; blocking remote email images may limit open measurement but does not stop link-click measurement.

Commercial inquiries and editorial submissions

Our Work With Us form asks for your name, work email, business or organization and project summary, with optional role, timing, budget, interests and public links. We use these details to assess the inquiry and respond. Entries are stored in our hosted form service and copied to our customer relationship management system for follow-up.

The Submit an Opening or Story Tip form collects your contact details and the opening, story or correction information you choose to provide, including any public source links. These entries are kept in a separate editorial queue for review, fact-checking and follow-up. Submitting material does not guarantee publication.

Both forms send an internal notification to the responsible ChiVibe operator. Access to submissions is restricted to authorized operators. Our form service processes technical request information needed to deliver and protect the form; opening an embedded form can share request information with that service.

Inquiry and editorial records follow the purpose-based retention and request process below. We keep necessary records to handle the inquiry or editorial matter, retain correction and publication provenance, and meet legal obligations. Technical logs, service copies and backups follow their applicable retention and recovery processes.

Website information and cookies

The newsletter invitation stores only a dismissal expiry time in this browser for seven days so it does not keep interrupting you. It does not store your email address or identify you as a subscriber. If browser storage is unavailable, the invitation stays hidden.

Our WordPress website processes information you provide through its forms, comments and, where applicable, existing account features. Form messages may be stored in WordPress and delivered to an administrative mailbox so we can respond. Submitting an inquiry or comment does not subscribe you to the newsletter. Do not send sensitive personal, financial or medical information through general website forms.

Comments collect the submitted text, name and email, together with technical information such as IP address and browser information used for moderation and spam prevention. Approved comments and the name or profile information displayed with them are public. Our site uses automated spam protection. Existing account and administration features use login and preference cookies. Commenters may choose to save their details in browser cookies for convenience. Public newsletter signup does not require a WordPress account.

We use Google Analytics through Site Kit to understand website use. The site is configured for page and interaction measurement, including enhanced measurement and plugin conversion tracking. Google can receive information such as visited pages, browser/device information, identifiers and technical request information and can use cookies or similar technologies. See how Google uses information from partner sites and Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Browser cookie controls may restrict cookies, but some site functions may be affected; private browsing alone does not prevent third-party data collection.

Hosting and security services process technical requests to deliver the website and protect it against abuse. Cloudflare provides site security services, including Turnstile on applicable WordPress forms. Pages may contain content loaded from other websites, such as images or video; loading or interacting with that content can share request information with its provider. Linked external websites have their own privacy practices.

Service providers and disclosure

Information is handled by authorized operators and service providers supporting hosting, security, email, analytics and site administration. Newsletter information is processed in our Zoho Campaigns service; website analytics is processed by Google. These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their applicable service and privacy terms also describe their processing. See Zoho’s privacy policy, Google’s privacy policy, Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Automattic’s privacy notice for visitors for spam-protection information.

We may retain or disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable legal requirements, respond to valid legal process, protect the service or address misuse. Newsletter consent does not authorize unrelated marketing or another brand’s outreach.

Retention

Our newsletter retention schedule distinguishes the following records:

  • Subscriber email and optional name: while subscribed, with an annual review for unnecessary information.
  • Unconfirmed signup profile data: 90 days. Separate suppression records remain where needed to honor withdrawal.
  • Minimal suppression records, including email, withdrawal date and reason: for as long as the newsletter operates, reviewed annually and not used for marketing.
  • Consent evidence: while subscribed and for three years afterward, subject to documented legal holds.
  • Detailed Zoho campaign reports, including individual opens, clicks, email addresses and related activities: according to Zoho’s documentation, five years, after which only the report overview is available. Unsubscribing does not immediately remove historical report information. We do not use retained reports to override an unsubscribe request. This reporting period is separate from the profile, consent and suppression schedules; it is not a promise that every provider copy or backup is erased at five years.
  • Unnecessary legacy WordPress signup and administrative-email copies: reviewed and removed within 90 days after the newsletter cutover, preserving necessary consent, suppression and legal-hold evidence. Legacy contacts are not automatically imported into Zoho Campaigns.
  • Controlled test profiles: removed within seven days after testing finishes; minimal redacted test results and necessary consent or suppression evidence follow their respective schedules.

Other website records are retained according to their purpose: to respond to inquiries, maintain published comments and applicable accounts, operate and secure the website, and meet legal obligations. Technical logs, service-provider copies and backups are subject to the applicable service’s retention and recovery processes. The newsletter schedule is not a claim that all WordPress or provider records share one deletion deadline. Contact us about a specific record or deletion request.

Your choices and requests

Use the unsubscribe link in newsletter emails or contact hello@chivibe.com to withdraw newsletter consent. Unsubscribe requests are processed promptly; the privacy-request response target below is not a waiting period for unsubscribe requests. Limited suppression and consent records may remain to honor your choice and document its handling.

Contact hello@chivibe.com to request access, correction or deletion of information associated with your subscription, inquiry, comment or account. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify and fulfill your request. We aim to acknowledge privacy requests within two business days and complete them within 30 calendar days, subject to any shorter applicable deadline. Available rights and exceptions depend on applicable law. Necessary legal, security, consent and suppression records may be retained; we will explain relevant limits when responding.

Changes and contact

We will identify updates by changing the version and effective date on this page. If a change requires fresh newsletter consent, we will request it before using information for the new purpose.
