A Ma Maniére, the luxury sneaker and streetwear house run by James Whitner and The Whitaker Group, is scheduled to open its first Chicago address at 1144 W. Washington Blvd. in the West Loop. Opening night is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, from 7 to 10 p.m., and the RSVP on Posh is free and open to the public.
The brand’s own announcement reads, “Some cities leave their mark on culture. Chicago has always helped define it.” The Chicago store joins A Ma Maniére locations in Atlanta, Houston and Washington, D.C., which makes Chicago the brand’s fourth city.
The sneaker and streetwear house arriving on Washington Boulevard
A Ma Maniére pairs its own in-house luxury label with a curated mix of fashion houses, and its stated mission is to celebrate and uplift Black and street culture in the global lifestyle space. The online store carries Rick Owens, Loewe, Thom Browne and Saint Laurent next to Nike, Jordan and adidas footwear. The brand’s own collaborations include A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 3, 4, 5 and 6, a Nike Air Force 1 and Air Max 95 pairing, and a Converse Weapon.
Whitner owns A Ma Maniére, and The Whitaker Group is the host of the Chicago opening night.

A glass-and-brick corner with a patio out back
The Chicago building is dark brick and glass, with the A Ma Maniére name in black letters across the top and tall corner windows that catch the afternoon sun. The store takes the first floor. Plans for the address include an outdoor patio, and the brand’s own images show a wooden deck behind the building, ringed by ornamental grasses, river stones and evergreens.

The address sits on the north side of Washington Boulevard, close to The Publishing House Hotel and The Press Room cocktail bar.

Opening night: Thursday, Nov. 5, 7 to 10 p.m.
The Whitaker Group hosts the evening at the Washington Boulevard store. The RSVP on Posh is free, open to the public and has no approval step. The invitation lists the address, the date and a 7 p.m. start. The lineup, food and drinks have not been announced.
A lounge, a patio and the Atlanta template
A lounge with an outdoor patio is planned alongside the Chicago store. The Atlanta store shows what A Ma Maniére builds around a shop. At The Galerie, 479 Edgewood Ave. SE, Passed Plates is a Sunday brunch from 3 to 5 p.m., Maison Supper is a global-theme dinner party on Saturday nights from 7 to 11 p.m., and The Night Cap is a Wednesday guided liquor tasting from 8 to 11 p.m. Sound Check, a Thursday DJ series built around one album, artist or genre, and Open Air, a Friday night social, round out the week.
A Ma Maniére describes its AMM Lounge and AMM Eats experiences as invitation-first, with members first experiencing them through curated events. Entry details for the Chicago lounge are still to come, and the free RSVP covers opening night.
Before you go: the date could still move
Opening night is scheduled, and the building still has one hurdle to clear. The address was marked not ready at its Sept. 16 pre-opening health inspection and did not pass its three inspections on Oct. 8. As of Oct. 28, 2026, no passing inspection has been posted, so the Nov. 5 date could change.
Getting to 1144 W. Washington Blvd.
The Morgan stop on the Green and Pink lines is the nearest train, and the Washington Boulevard address sits a short walk from it. The Publishing House Hotel and The Press Room are close by for a drink before or after.
The West Loop is easy to turn into a full night. Creepies serves roast chicken and brie gougères on Randolph Street, and All Well keeps its bar open until midnight Wednesday through Sunday, a short walk from the new store. The Halloween week nightlife guide runs through Nov. 7 with the rest of the city’s parties.
