Chicago Nightlife, Oct 10 to 18: Field Museum Gala, North America’s No. 1 Bar on the 46th Floor & a Spiegeltent Opening Night
Mid-October is when Chicago nightlife stops warming up and starts peaking. Fashion Week hands off to gala season, two of the most anticipated rooms of the fall open on the same Thursday, and the Halloween tickets that sell out every year are on sale now. Here is how to spend Chicago nightlife from October 10 to 18: a black-tie Saturday at the Field Museum, a day with Elie Tahari in Fulton Market, North America’s No. 1 bar pouring 46 floors above the Gold Coast, a century-old mirror tent lighting up the Loop, and the Halloween passes worth locking in before the rush.
The city’s biggest diplomatic night, the Chicago International Gala at the Field Museum on Friday, October 9, sold out. Its sister night on Museum Campus still has seats.
Saturday, October 17: dress up for the Field Museum Gala

The Field Museum Gala is the big night of the fall season, and this year it carries extra weight. The Women’s Board hosts the evening on Saturday, October 17, from 6:30 to 11:30 PM, celebrating the board’s 60th anniversary and honoring Marshall Field V for 60 years of leadership as a museum trustee. The gala is the museum’s single most important fundraiser, raising more than $2 million a year for its research, conservation and education programs in Chicago and around the world.
Few rooms in Chicago make an entrance like the Field Museum after dark, with the columns and skylights of Stanley Field Hall overhead and the museum’s giants close at hand. Younger guests have their own way in: the Field Associates, the museum’s young professionals board, host the Soiree at the Gala, a reception with science stations and exhibition access that flows into the main party for dessert and dancing.
Tickets, tables and sponsorships are sold through the Field Museum Gala page. Book early: the gala is the kind of night that fills table by table, and the Soiree is the easier entry point for a group of friends.
Tuesday, October 13: a fashion day with Elie Tahari at mHUB

Fashion Week’s runways close out this weekend (our weekend nightlife guide has every after party), and the conversation carries into Tuesday. The Apparel Industry Board (AIBI) brings the 2026 Chicago Fashion Summit: Threading The Future to mHUB at 1623 W Fulton St, running from 8:30 AM to 5 PM.
The marquee moment is the Chicago premiere of the documentary The United States of Elie Tahari, followed by a conversation with the designer himself and filmmaker David Serero. Menswear designer Jeffrey Banks and couture designer CD Greene join the lineup, with panels on AI, sustainability, craftsmanship and costume for performance. A full-day ticket covers the speakers, networking and lunch, so you can spend the day talking shop with Chicago’s designers, retailers and students and still make dinner in Fulton Market.
General admission is $225 on Eventbrite, and online sales close Monday, October 12, at 8 AM.
Thursday, October 15: two openings, one night

Thursday is the night to clear your calendar. Two of the fall’s most talked-about rooms open the same evening, and each one rewards booking now.
High above the Gold Coast, Sip & Guzzle Chicago takes over the candlelit Mile High Cocktail Club on the 46th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. The New York bar from Shingo Gokan and Steve Schneider ranked No. 1 on North America’s 50 Best Bars in 2026, and the Chicago residency pours three precise Sips and three playful Guzzles, from a brown-butter apple pie cocktail to a strawberry and coconut Miami Vice Negroni. Every seat is $85 for two cocktails, Thursday through Sunday from 5 to 10 PM, through March 14, 2027. The room is small, so reserve on OpenTable for opening weekend.

Then head south to Randolph Street, where Kermess Chicago raises the curtain on Premonitions Inc. at 7:30 PM. A century-old Belgian Spiegeltent stands on Floor 14 of 32 W Randolph St, all velvet, mirrors and candlelight, with aerialists flying over about 300 table seats while Miss Fortuna reads the room’s horoscopes. Seats are Classic $89, Preferred $119 or VIP $149 on kermesschicago.com, with food and cocktails ordered at the table. Opening weekend continues Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM, and the Kermess Lounge pours an hour before and after every show.
Pair them for the ultimate Thursday: a 5 PM Sip & Guzzle seating for golden hour 46 floors up, then a cab to the Loop for doors an hour before curtain.
Where to go between the big nights
The fall openings that set the tone this season are hitting their stride, and each makes an easy weeknight plan. On the river, Carlyle Club fills the landmark Reid Murdoch Building at 316 N Clark with a steakhouse grill on one side, a sushi counter on the other and river windows glowing behind the bar.
In the Gold Coast, the Champagne Room at the Ambassador is the place for a coupe before dinner. Out in Logan Square, Logan Inn runs cafe mornings into cocktail nights on California Avenue. And for the last drink of a long Saturday, The Lair waits under Stardust at 710 N Clark, red-lit and dragon-guarded until 3 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
One planning note for Sunday, October 11: the Chicago Marathon closes roads across the city, so brunch close to home and save the cross-town plans for the evening.
Halloween tickets to lock in now

Halloween weekend lands on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday this year, which means three nights of parties and plenty of competition for the best ones. These are the tickets to grab before October slips away.
Death By Disco. Thank You For Dancing brings back what it bills as Chicago’s biggest Halloween party for its third year: one ticket, three venues (Recess, Morgan MFG and City Hall), four stages and more than 50 DJs over two nights of Halloween weekend. Expect head-to-toe decor, a free tattoo and tarot station, and costumed performers roaming every room. Tickets are on the Death By Disco page; check which night your ticket covers at checkout.
House Calls Halloween Weekend Pass. For house heads, one $75 pass on Dice covers all three House Calls shows. Friday, October 30, splits between Alisha at Artifact and Skream playing all night long at the Alhambra, and Saturday, October 31, returns to Artifact with a headliner still to be announced. It is 21 and over, and Skream’s all-nighter at the Alhambra is the headline.

Hallo-Queen! at Metro and Smartbar. Chicago’s beloved Sunday house party Queen! takes over the whole building at 3730 N Clark on Sunday, November 1, with doors at 9 PM. Derrick Carter and Michael Serafini lead a lineup with house pioneer Chip E, DJ Minx, Chris Cruse and CZBoogie, Lucy Stoole and Nico host, Jaharia guest hosts, and Boxboy Rich builds the installations. It is 21 and over, with tickets through Smartbar’s event page. If you want a preview, Queen! celebrates Derrick’s Birthday on Sunday, October 18, with Luke Solomon and Shaun J Wright joining the decks.
Openings on the horizon
Three new rooms are getting close, and each is worth watching for an opening date. In the West Loop, A Ma Maniere is bringing a lounge with an outdoor patio to 1144 W Washington Blvd. In Fulton Market, Osaka Nikkei, the Lima-born Peruvian-Japanese restaurant, is preparing its second U.S. location at 1101 W Lake St, with Kero Bar, a roughly 65-seat cocktail lounge with weekend DJs, built in. And in River North, The Lake at 205 W Superior St is shaping up as a five-story private members’ club from Topography Hospitality, with three restaurants, two cocktail bars, a wine cellar and a roof terrace.
